A Louisiana man has been charged with a hate crime for allegedly removing signs from a local abortion clinic. The state’s hate-crime statute includes offenses committed “because of actual or perceived membership or service in, or employment with, an organization”—like an abortion clinic. William Kennedy, 27, was also charged with “simple criminal damage.”
