Afghan authorities say insurgents tricked an eight-year-old girl into carrying a bomb, which detonated as she approached a police vehicle. The attack occurred in the remote village of Uwshi in central Afghanistan. The bomb was wrapped in a cloth and placed in a bag. It was detonated by remote control, and Ushwi’s police chief says he believes she was unaware of the explosive device.
