Afghan Prisoner Release Angers U.S.

So much for trust. A planned prisoner release by President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan will include prisoners who attacked Americans, officials said on Tuesday. The releases, just months after the U.S. gave control to Afghanistan, come as Karzai still refuses to sign the long-term security agreement with the U.S. American officials were initially reluctant to hand over detention operations to Karzai, in large part because they feared dangerous militants would be released.
