Afghans: Pakistan Fired First

U.S. troops kick out over deadly NATO strike.

In retaliation over a deadly NATO strike that is said to have killed at least 24 Pakistani troops early Saturday morning, Pakistan is giving the U.S. 15 days to leave the important Shamsi air base. Sunday, Afghan and Western officials said that the raid was only ordered after Pakistan fired. Pakistan buried the troops Sunday in a highly-televised funeral. The Shamsi air base is a key launchpad for drone strikes. Pakistan has also cut off vital supply routes to U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The U.S. has not yet accepted blame for the strike, but the U.S. ambassador to Islamabad has pledged to “investigate this incident.”
