A group of leaders in the Great Lakes region of eastern Africa is meeting in Kampala, Uganda, on Saturday to seek an end to ongoing violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The group has met several times in recent months to solve the crisis brought on by rebel group M23, which has taken over one city and has its eye on the rest of the region. There is rampant speculation about whether M23 receives support from neighboring Rwanda. The president of Rwanda will not be attending the summit in Uganda, and will instead meet with the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo separately.
