Bloomberg Business revealed Wednesday that the mystery buyer of the Wu-Tang Clan’s single-copy album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin is none other than infamous pharmaceutical CEO Martin Shkreli, who became a household villain after he purchased an AIDS drug and then raised the price by roughly 5,000 percent. Shkreli reportedly paid $2 million for the coveted record, and plans to save listening to it for a “rainy day.” Staving off potential backlash against the iconic rap group, Wu-Tang leader RZA issued a statement that the sale was agreed upon in May, before Shkreli’s business practices became known. “We decided to give a significant portion of the proceeds to charity,” the rapper added.
