Though members of the GOP—including, reportedly, vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan—pressured Rep. Todd Akin to drop out of the Missouri Senate race following his controversial remarks on “legitimate rape,” the embattled congressman announced Friday that he isn’t going anywhere. “We’re going to be here through the November election, and we’re going to be here to win,” he said in a press conference. His campaign is being bolstered by small individual donations by conservative supporters, who helped Akin raise at least $212,000 since his most recent fundraising appeal. Akin is trying to unseat Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill.
