Cable news channel Al Jazeera America, which was launched in 2013, is set to shut down at the end of April. A memo sent to the staff Wednesday said its “business model is simply not sustainable.” The network debuted in August 2013 after it purchased Current TV from former Vice President Al Gore for a whopping $500 million.
