Al Jazeera To Cut 500 Jobs

SCALING BACK

Lays off beginning on Monday.

Al Jazeera is reportedly set to lay off about 500 employees beginning on Monday. This is a result of larger budget cuts the company has had to face because of falling oil prices. The company overall employs some 3,500 people and it shut down its English language channel in the United States earlier this year. The channel officially signs off the air on April 12.
