A powerful voice of the Republican party in Alabama is staring at 23 felony counts, up to 20 years in prison, and tens of thousands of dollars in fines. Mike Hubbard, the speaker of the state House of Representatives, was indicted by a grand jury after a year-long investigation. The charges against him include using his office for personal gain, voting with a conflict of interest, receiving gifts from lobbyist, and lobbying himself. Moore has pleaded not guilty and his trial will begin later this month.
