A confessed serial killer in Alaska who has committed suicide may be linked to as many as 11 deaths—and there might be even more victims outside the U.S., the FBI said on Monday. Israel Keyes, who killed himself in jail in December 2012, had confessed to investigators to the abduction and murder of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig in February 2012—the crime that got him caught—as well as the murders of Bill and Lorraine Currier in 2011, an unidentified couple in Washington state between July 2001 and 2005, and two separate murders between 2005 and 2006. But authorities say he may have even more victims, and only identified himself in those deaths because investigators had already linked him to them. It’s unclear how he met his victims, although Keyes did admit to frequenting prostitutes.
