The Honest Company, co-founded by actress Jessica Alba, promised that its cleaning supplies, detergent and diapers do not contain chemicals found in competing brands' products. The company alleges that it is avoiding the use of sodium lauryl sulfate which can be found in Colgate toothpaste and Tide detergent. But two lab tests determined that Honest Company products had indeed used the chemical, breaking the promise they had made to consumers.
