Author Alice Walker has penned an open letter to Alicia Keys in which she pleads for the singer to cancel her Tel Aviv concert, citing Israel’s "apartheid" against Palestinians. The author and poet writes, "It would grieve me to know you are putting yourself in danger (soul danger) by performing," and urges Keys to join other artists in a boycott of the country. Walker's view on Israel is no secret; she's called Israel the Middle East’s “biggest terrorist,” and refused to publish a Hebrew edition of The Color Purple in 2012. Walker writes that Keys should visit the children of Gaza instead, and "sing to them of our mutual love of all children."
