The father of the American ambassador killed in Benghazi has spoken out in a new interview against his son’s death being used as stump-speech fodder. “It would be really abhorrent to make this into a campaign issue,” said 77-year-old Jan Stevens of the death of his son Christopher. The late ambassador’s family is in the midst of preparations for a memorial service to be held next week. “The security matters are being adequately investigated,” Stevens said, brushing aside charges made repeatedly by the Republican ticket that warning signs were ignored. “We don’t pretend to be experts in security. It has to be objectively examined.”
