Is Ryan Seacrest so many places that he’s finally turning into his own competitor? The American Idol host is in the early stages of developing another music-themed show with NBC. It's not yet clear what Seacrest's role will be on the series, the concept of which is still in the works. NBC's head of alternative programming told the New York Post that the show is "a bit more fun" than your average competition show. "It's not contestant competitive. It's artist competitive," he added. Seacrest has made it clear that the show will not compete with American Idol, the Fox hit that pays him $15 million per year and has him under contract to not appear on another network until 2012. That deal, however, expires at the end of next season. “It doesn’t make a lot of sense to host a show competing with Idol,” Seacrest told The Hollywood Reporter in late March. “I think it’s possible [to be the face of another show in the future], but at this point I certainly have not even gone down that road because Idol is in a great place, so I think we’re just enjoying that and we want to focus on that.”
