American Teacher Missing in Japan

Among the thousands still missing in Japan is American Taylor Anderson, who had been living and teaching in northeastern Japan since August 2008. The Richmond, Virginia, native is 24 years old. Anderson was last seen just after the earthquake on March 11—she helped many of her students get home and then left the school on her bike. “She probably had 10, 15 minutes of bike riding before the water hit,” Anderson’s father said, referencing the massive tsunami that followed the initial quake. “The question is, where was she?” It’s still unclear how many Americans are missing in Japan, but no U.S. citizens have yet been confirmed dead.
