An estimated 400,000 people hit the streets of London on Saturday, some bused in from around the country to protest cuts to the public sector. But there seems to be a small band of anarchists in the crowd, smashing windows and throwing paint bombs and ammonia-filled lightbulbs at police officers. Groups of protesters have also attacked a bank and a Niketown. Earlier, Labour leader Ed Miliband spoke to a crowd of thousands in Hyde Park, accusing the government of trying to take Britain back to the 1980s. Mocking Prime Minister David Cameron's “big society” plan, Miliband said: “David Cameron: You wanted to create the big society. This is the big society. The big society united against what your government is doing to our country.”
