5. Letterman’s Anime Musical Guest

On Wednesday night’s Late Night with David Letterman, Dave welcomed musical guest Hatsune Miku, a massive pop star in her native Japan. While foreign singers appear on American late night TV often enough, this is the first time the singer in question was a projected hologram of an anime character.

It seems that, in the remaining few weeks before his retirement, Letterman is getting bold… or perhaps creepy. It’s hard to tell.

4. A Real Train Wreck

“Holy Mother of moo-moo!” Juanita Schulze said as a train rammed through a stuck tractor-trailer. Schulze started recording after she and her husband noticed the stalled vehicle on the tracks in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Only moments later, the tractor-trailer was destroyed and fumes were leaking from one of the train’s many tanker cars. Schulze and her husband weren’t injured, nor was the tractor-trailer driver—who was not inside at the moment of impact—but the train’s conductor and an engineer were injured in the crash and are currently recovering in a hospital.

3. Sam Smith Gets Spoofed

If having over 100 million YouTube hits wasn’t enough proof that pop R&B singer Sam Smith has officially made it, look to the video spoof of his international hit song “Stay with Me” which has gone viral in its own right.

Entitled “Please Go Home,” the parody stars Daniel Franzese, best known as the “too gay to function” Damian from Mean Girls. Backed by the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, he sings about a clingy one-night-stand who can’t take a hint.

2. Five-Year-Old Boy with Leukemia Scores with Utah Jazz

J.P. Gibson wowed the crowd at EnergySolutions Arena during a Utah jazz scrimmage Monday night. The “free agent” five-year-old, who has been battling leukemia since 2012, was signed to the Jazz for one day, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. J.P. was subbed in during the third quarter but made up for it with a spectacular slam dunk, assisted slightly by Jazz center Rudy Gobert.

1. Carlton Goes ‘Dancing with the Stars’

It’s a good bet that when you think of Will Smith’s breakout sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, three things come to mind: the legendary theme song; that one emotional scene with Will’s dad; and the awkward dance moves of Will’s cousin Carlton, played by Alfonso Ribeiro.

On this week’s Dancing with the Stars, Ribeiro dusted off his preppie sweater and bowtie, and brought down the house with a routine based around “the Carlton.”

Of course, the routine was set to Tom Jones’s “It’s Not Unusual”; it just wouldn’t be a proper “Carlton” without it.
