John Koblin Named New York Times Style Reporter: A replacement for Eric Wilson, who left The New York Times in October for the position of fashion news director at InStyle, has finally been named. John Koblin, currently a sports reporter at Deadspin, will join the newpaper "early next year" as style reporter. Although Koblin's fashion experience may be lacking, he has reported on media for both WWD and The New York Observer in the past. Styles editor Stuart Emmrich wrote in a memo, "Over the past month, I have had several long conversations with John about our fashion coverage — discussing in detail how he might have approached some of our news stories differently, what other angles he might have pursued...and in each case I have come away with the same reaction: total excitement at the prospect of having him on the Styles staff."
