Anti-Government Protests Rock Iran

Large crowds protested the Iranian government in several cities on Thursday and Friday, leading to over 50 arrests. The demonstrations, which began in Iran's second-largest city Mashhad on Thursday, saw protestors voice frustration over the country's economic woes, including income inequality, unemployment, and soaring food costs. The price of eggs has doubled within the past week. More than 50 people were arrested in Mashhad. Footage from demonstrations in the city of Rasht showed outnumbered police forces attempting to suppress the protests.
