An Arizona ammunition dealer named as a person of interest in the Las Vegas shooting has been arrested for allegedly manufacturing armor-piercing bullets. Douglas Haig was charged by a Nevada federal court late Friday, just hours after he held a news conference to say the product he sold to the gunman, Stephen Paddock, “had absolutely nothing to do with” the mass shooting that killed 58 people last October. Federal investigators say unfired armor-piercing ammunition with Haig’s fingerprints on them were found inside Paddock’s hotel room. Haig, who earlier said he’d only sold Paddock surplus military tracer ammunition, did not have a license to be making such ammunition, investigators say. It was not immediately clear if Paddock used any of the armor-piercing ammunition in the massacre.
