Arizona State Rep. Don Shooter (R-Yuma) was voted out of office Thursday after a report outlining his “pervasive harassment” that “created a hostile environment at the Legislature” was released this week. Fifty-eight of his colleagues voted him out of his seat, meeting the 40 necessary votes to expel him from the state legislature. Before the vote, Shooter spoke on the state legislature’s floor and said, “I’ve said stupid things. I’ve done stupid things. I stood on the carpet. I took it like a man, I apologize.” Allegations against Shooter include making a lewd comment towards a woman who was breastfeeding and grabbing his crotch in front of another woman. His ousting is “believed to be first in U.S. since #MeToo movement,” the Associated Press noted.
