Armstrong Lashes Back at Landis

Feuding

Calls doping claims “troubling, angry and misplaced effort.”

The saga continued Friday, as Lance Armstrong hit back at fellow cyclist Floyd Landis—releasing emails that reveal sponsors and colleagues advising Landis to call a truce with Armstrong, after he accused the cycling icon of doping, paying off officials, and teaching fellow cyclists how to cheat. “Even a superficial review reveals a troubling, angry and misplaced effort at retribution by Landis for his perceived slights,” said a statement on Armstrong’s team website. Landis has been disgraced in the cycling community since admitting to doping, and as the new emails reveal, was implored by his longtime sponsor Dr. Brent Kay to put an end to the war of words. “I'm asking you to do this for me and my family so we can move on with our lives and leave all the anger, hatred, and bitterness behind,” read one email from Kay. Landis has so far refused to comment on the emails.
