John Oliver made headlines Sunday night when he weighed in on the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida, but the Last Week Tonight host has been commenting on gun violence for years. In 2013, Oliver made a trilogy of segments for The Daily Show comparing the United States, where Congress has repeatedly failed to pass any meaningful gun control laws, to Australia, where a 1996 ban on several types of firearms virtually ended its problem with mass shootings.
