Last week, a delegation that included Julian Assange's father, John Shipton, and two members of the Australian Wikileaks Party national council met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during a visit to Damascus. Shipton, who is the party's CEO, said he and the group came to show solidarity with the Syrian people, and they have plans help the Assad administration spread his message. “We’ll continue to expose the truth to the Australian people and to our international audience, and next year we will set up an office in Damascus,” he said.
