One other officer wounded, suspect remains at large.
The Oconee County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Jamie Hood.
One police officer was reportedly shot and killed in Athens, Ga., Tuesday afternoon, and another was wounded, apparently in connection with a carjacking report. The Athens Police wouldn’t comment on the status of the officers, but a local news report said one of the two had died. Police have launched a manhunt for Jamie Hood, 33, in connection with shooting, and local schools are partially on lockdown. The University of Georgia, which is located in the town, is unaffected, officials say.
