Australia Cancels Visa for Right-Winger Milo Yiannopoulos After New Zealand Attacks
NOT WELCOME
Australia has rescinded a visa granted to former Breitbart journalist Milo Yiannopoulos a week after it was granted in light of the deadly New Zealand mosque attacks. The far-right commentator was planning to be in Australia next week for a speaking tour to support his far-right agenda. According to the Guardian Australia, immigration minister David Coleman said Milo's comments about Islam in the wake of the Christchurch massacre were “appalling and foment hatred and division.” Coleman called the attacks at two New Zealand mosques “an act of pure evil” that were perpetrated “on Muslims peacefully practicing their religion.” He said, “Australia stands with New Zealand and with Muslim communities the world over in condemning this inhuman act.” Coleman had been previously criticized for approving the controversial figure’s visa. Yiannopoulos disagreed with the ban. “I explicitly denounced violence,” he said. “And I criticized the establishment for pandering to Islamic fundamentalism. So Australia banned me again.”
