Australia Gets Snow in Summer

Eleven inches fall in New South Wales.

It may be summertime in the southern hemisphere, but parts of Australia could have a white Christmas: Freezing winds from Antarctica blew a snowstorm into New South Wales that dropped 11 inches of snow; other parts of the country also received snow. Australia’s average temperature for December is usually 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The extreme weather also caused some of Australia’s worst flooding in 50 years.
