Australia, Iran Agree to Share ISIS Data

Australia and Iran have struck a deal to share intelligence on Australians fighting with extremist groups in Iraq such as the Islamic State, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said Monday in Tehran. Bishop made the announcement after meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, marking the highest-level talks between the two nations in more than a decade. She described the new arrangement as "informal," adding that Australia would have access to intelligence gathered by Iranian operatives in Iraq. Bishop declined to comment on whether the new agreement would pose any threat of harming Australian citizens fighting for ISIS. About 100 Australians are believed to have traveled to Iraq and Syria to join ISIS.
