Asheesh Kapur Siddique is an assistant professor of history at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. He grew up in Washington, DC, and his father taught Chemical Engineering at Howard University in the 1970s.
Thanks to its unique relationship with Howard, Congress can easily fund this 150-year-old incubator of pioneering scholarship that’s been a potent rejoinder to white supremacists.
