Robert M. Dowling is professor of English at Central Connecticut State University. He has written extensively on Eugene O’Neill, including, along with several other books on the playwright, the newly released Eugene O’Neill: A Life in Four Acts (Yale University Press, October 2014). He serves on the editorial board of The Eugene O’Neill Review and the board of directors of the Eugene O’Neill Society.
