Steve Wilstein is an author, sportswriter and photographer who covered Muhammad Ali’s career for United Press International from 1973 to 1980. As a columnist afterward for the Associated Press, Wilstein wrote about Ali lighting the Olympic flame at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games. Two years later, Wilstein launched coverage of the “Steroid Era” in baseball with his discovery of Mark McGwire's andro use during his record-setting 70-home run season.
