Avalanche Kills 2 U.S. Olympic Hopefuls

SLOPE TRAGEDY

In the Alps.

Two Olympic contendors from the U.S. Ski Team died in an avalache on Monday while skiing near the training camp in the Austrian Alps. Ronnie Berlack and Brcye Astle were two of six skiers who came off a prepared slope and apparently triggered an avalanche. The other four were unharmed. The U.S. Ski Team is "in shock," according to Alpine director Patrick Riml.
