Eric John King
Eric John King, convicted of a double-murder, was executed at an Arizona state prison on Tuesday, despite his attorneys' last minute requests for clemency after providing evidence that suggested King was innocent. His lawyers had argued that the two key witnesses who testified against King at his trial had changed their stories, and that the surveillance video used against him in his trial was of poor quality. A prosecutor countered that the photographic evidence was clear and that if jurors hadn't believed King was guilty, they wouldn't have convicted him. King's attorneys had also requested to delay his execution until the state enacts its new lethal injection law. The Supreme Court refused to intervene since Arizona legally purchased the drug. King, 47, had pled innocent since his arrest and was declared dead within thirteen minutes of being sedated with a three-drug lethal injection cocktail.
