Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann spent day two of her presidential campaign explaining her past gaffes to the morning show circuit. She admitted on CNN's American Morning that she messed up when she referred to her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa as the home of John Wayne. The actor was from another town in Iowa, while the serial killer John Wayne Gacy is the true Waterloo native. Bachmann said she can't be perfect, and the former attorney and small business owner later touted her "strong academic scholarly background." Meanwhile, Ron Carey, Bachmann's former chief of staff, wrote in the Des Moines Register that she is "so not ready" to be president, and backed former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty instead.
