Barack Obama, Felipe Calderon Meet to Discuss Drug Tensions

Amid heightened tensions over border violence.

No state dinner here; just pure business: President Obama will meet with Mexican President Felipe Calderon in Washington Thursday morning. Things could be more tense than usual, as Obama is expected to press Calderon to allow U.S. agents working in Mexico to carry firearms for their own protection. Obama’s move comes after a U.S. immigration agent was shot dead in Northern Mexico. The U.S. is also expected to speed up its aid to Mexico for the drug war.
