Barbara and George H.W. Bush were the longest married White House couple in U.S. history, having been married 73 years, according to USA Today. While their seven-decade marriage has been previously reported, the milestone came to light once again following George H.W. Bush’s death on Friday at age 94. Barbara Bush died on April 17 at age 92. Barbara Bush said several months prior to her death that she was “still old...still in love” with her husband. A friend introduced them at a Christmas dance in 1941. When a waltz began, Barbara and George H.W. Bush decided not to dance because he didn’t know the steps, forcing them to speak to each other. “It was a storybook meeting,” George H.W. Bush said in his autobiography. Barbara Bush reportedly said in a 1989 interview with TIME magazine that “I married the first man I ever kissed.”
