Barney Frank Wants Senate Seat

Only a day out of Congress and he’s already plotting his next political move. Former congressman Barney Frank, who departed the House of Representatives yesterday after a 32-year tenure, has expressed interest to Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick about serving as an interim senator when current Sen. John Kerry becomes secretary of state. “I’m not going to be coy. It’s not anything I’ve ever been good at,” the Democrat said Friday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, adding that he would like to serve during February, March and April, which he thinks will be “among the most important months” for the economy in the wake of the fiscal-cliff deal. Frank said that he wouldn’t want the seat for more than a three-month period—just enough time to stake his claim in the next fiscal battle on the Hill.
