Carrie Gracie, a senior editor at BBC News, quit in protest of what she described as a systemic gender pay gap at the network and posted an open letter to her website Sunday accusing the British broadcaster of breaking the law. Gracie said she wanted viewers to know the BBC has been “resisting pressure for a fair and transparent pay structure.” She added, “On pay, the BBC is not living up to its stated values of trust, honesty and accountability.”
