No one could have predicted the tragic murder-suicide that took place Saturday, when Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, just 25-years-old, shot and killed his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins, before taking his own life. Belcher did, however, have a history of domestic abuse, USA Today revealed Monday. While in college at the University of Maine, Belcher reportedly got “upset over a girl and punched out a window,” severing his thumb and lacerating his wrist. In a separate incident, campus police were called to his dorm room after someone called in a complaint “about the raised voices” of Belcher and a girlfriend. No physical abuse was reported.
