Bernie Sanders is backing Rep. Keith Ellison to be the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Ellison, a five-term progressive congressman from Minnesota, was one of the few members of Congress to endorse Sanders when he was in a battle with the Democratic presidential nomination with Hillary Clinton. Sanders also said Clinton lost to Donald Trump because a “lack of enthusiasm” kept Democrats home on Election Day. He also did not rule out a presidential run in 2020, saying “four years is a long time from now,” and called it an “embarrassment” that white working-class Americans backed Trump in this year’s contest.
