Bernie Sanders: ‘It Doesn’t Appear’ I’ll Be the Democratic Nominee
NO, REALLY?
Bernie Sanders says he knows he will not be leading the Democratic ticket for president in 2016. In his most explicit admission of defeat to Hillary Clinton yet, the Vermont senator told C-SPAN host Steve Scully, “It doesn’t appear that I’m going to be the nominee,” adding a subtle wink and a slight smile as he explained that he may or may not have a speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. In the same interview, Sanders rejected Donald Trump’s recent overtures to his supporters, saying he doubts many people will take the presumptive Republican nominee up on his offer. “I think the vast majority of people who voted for me understand that Donald Trump, in a dozen different ways, is literally unfit to be president of the United States,” he said.
