Vice President Joe Biden mistakenly said he was “proud to be president of the United States” at a ball Saturday, but that was not the only hint he dropped over the weekend of his future ambitions. That mere fact that he stopped by the Iowa-sponsored ball was a show of respect for the state that holds the first nominating contest of the presidential campaign. Biden also selected Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who is of Hispanic heritage, to administer his oath of office Sunday. Democratic National Committee ex-chairman Ed Rendell said, “If Joe Biden were to run for president, some of these early contacts may prove very useful for him.”
