Bill Clinton: GOP Up to Old Tricks

Déjà vu

Says Republicans learned obstructionism under him.

Right-wing obstructionism and anger? Bill Clinton’s been there, done that before. The former president said that, while he’s “shocked” by the outpouring of right-wing anger, the Republican Party learned during his presidency the value of obstructionism. "I think he was shocked at the intensity of the Republican opposition," Clinton said on Face the Nation. "But they learned from my first two years that, if you just say no, even though people hate it, you get rewarded for it because it discourages the Democrats and it inflames your base. So they're doing just what they did in '93 and '94. And so far it appears that they're being rewarded for it." He added that, while Obama seemed “disoriented” for awhile, "I think he is getting his groove back now.”
