Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) proposed the Tyler Clementi Higher Education Anti-Harassment Act Thursday, which would provide funding for college and universities to have anti-harassment policies in place. As part of the legislation, any college or university that receives federal student aid will also require schools to recognize cyberbullying as a form of harassment. The law is named in memory of an 18-year-old Rutgers University student who committed suicide in September after his roommate and another student allegedly tormented Clementi because of his sexuality, and allegedly recorded Clementi in private moment with another man.
