Bin Laden Daughter Absconds in Tehran

Family Affair

Hides out in Saudi embassy after escaping guards.

A Saudi-owned newspaper is reporting that 17-year-old Eman bin Laden is hiding out at Saudi Arabia's embassy in Tehran after eluding the guards who have held her, her sister, and her four brothers under house arrest for eight years. This appears to confirm a long-held belief that the bin Laden children are being held in custody in Iran. Of the bin Ladens in Iran, Omar bin Laden—one of Osama's 19 children—said, "Until four weeks ago, we did not know where they were." Eman allegedly escaped from guards who had taken her on a shopping trip in Tehran. Omar also says his brother Saad, whom American authorities thought they killed in a Pakistan airstrike, is also in Iran.
