Blagojevich Gets 14 Years in Jail

Blago's off to jail. A Chicago judge sentenced the former Illinois governor to 14 years for a wide range of corruption charges—including trying to sell President Obama’s old Senate seat. The ruling is one of the stiffest sentences for corruption in the history of the state. "When it is the governor who goes bad, the fabric of Illinois is torn and disfigured and not easily repaired," the judge said at the hearing. Before the sentence came down, Blagojevich apologized for nearly 20 minutes. “My life is in ruins,” he said. "I have nobody to blame but myself for my stupidity and actions … and I am just so incredibly sorry.”
