These are couple of works by the Danish trio known as Superflex, from a show called “Bankrupt Banks”, at Peter Blum’s space in Chelsea in New York. The artists simply took the corporate logos of 24 of the world’s defunct banks and turned them into a roomful of banners. That lets us see the vigorous attempts at brand positioning the banks got up to, billing themselves as swooping eagles or soaring palms or homey houses on hills. And all those clever symbols can now only represent failure.
