The Taliban claimed responsibility for car bombs set off in Kabul on Wednesday following the departure of President Obama. The U.S. leader made a surprise trip to Afghanistan earlier in the day, signing a troop-drawdown pact before addressing American citizens via television. Witnesses said at least three explosions took place in front of a housing compound used by Westerners. At least six people were said to have killed. Obama exited the country after his TV address. The U.S. Embassy in Kabul urged staff to take cover, tweeting out that the situation was “not a drill.”
