Blumenthal Admits He 'Misspoke'

It depends on what your definition of “in” is? Connecticut Attorney General and Senate hopeful Richard Blumenthal admitted on Tuesday to misspeaking “on a few occasions” about serving in Vietnam, saying that he had said he served “in” Vietnam when he meant to say he served “during” Vietnam. Blumenthal said, “I regret that I misspoke, and I take full responsibility.” Blumenthal obtained five military deferments between 1965 and 1970 before joining the Marine Reserve.
